Paneer Makhani

Ingredients for paneer Makhani

• 2 cups paneer cubes- 250 gm ready packet paneer or homemade paneer.
• 2 cups pureed tomatoes
• 1 cup low fat milk 
• 1 cup chopped onion
• 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
• 3 cloves
• 1 tsp cardamom powder
• ¼ tsp cinnamon powder
• 1 tsp turmeric powder
• ½ tsp cumin powder
• 1 tsp dry mango powder
• 1 tsp Kasuri Methi
• 2 tsp honey 
• 2 tsp butter
• 1 tsp oil for paneer Makhani
• chopped coriander leaves
• Salt to taste
 
Method for paneer Makhani
 
• Soak the paneer in hot salt water. This process makes the paneer soft and tasty.
• Heat a frying pan and sauté the onions and garlic in oil. Once they turn mild golden colour, add cloves, cardamom powder, cinnamon powder and sauté for a few more minutes
• Grind the above sautéed mixture into a fine paste. In the same frying pan add the butter and the ground onion garlic paste and sauté for a few more minutes.
• Add the tomato puree, turmeric, cumin powder, black pepper powder, dry mango powder. Simmer for a few minutes
• Add milk, honey and salt and simmer for 10 minutes.
• Drain and add the paneer to the above Makhani. Add Kasuri Methi and simmer for few minutes.
• Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with nanas/any other Indian bread
